Having a good diet meal plan is a good idea if you are planning to lose weight. There are varying diets you can find online or in any magazine. When it comes down to it you have to make the choices though. You have to decide what you put in your system and what you don’t. I personally think going by somebody else’s diet plan is too difficult. You might not like or want to eat what they have on their plan. That is especially true if you are like me and are a picky eater. Rather than go buy some meal plan found online, it would be better to create your own.
From what I understand, it is a good idea to prepare your diet meal plan at least a day or so ahead of schedule and possibly even have your meals prepared as well. The other important thing is how much you put in your stomach. American’s like to eat a lot of food and many restaurants have catered to that by offering large portion sizes. McDonald’s and other fast food joints were going crazy for awhile with the whole super sizing of food. Even without the super size, the portions can be very large. At many places when you order a regular soda, they give you a gigantic looking cup.
The problem is most people really don’t know what a proper portion is and are taking in more calories than they think they are. Since the 1950’s, the portions of foods prepared have doubled. So when you are creating a diet meal plan for yourself remember that it is also about how much you put in that counts. I know this may not seem true with the inflation of prices lately. There are some places that are starting to realize that their portions are unrealistic and so they are cutting down, but then making the price higher I have found.
One way to be careful about portions when eating out is to ask for half of your meal to be put in a container before eating. Usually half is quite a bit. You can save the rest for tomorrow. Also when planning out your diet meal plan make sure you add snacks and portion them out. Then you will have a snack on hand when you get the munchies. If you have a friend with you, share your meal with them. That is another way to control your portion. Using smaller plates so your plate looks full can also help.
If you are still hungry after you have eaten and really feel like you need to eat some more, wait about 15 minutes to see if you are truly hungry. If after 15 minutes you are still hungry get some more but make it a small portion. The best thing to do is to eat some fruits and vegetables. Besides keeping your diet meal plan ahead of time it is a good idea to journal everything you ate for the day and possibly keep track of the calories as well. I find that it is a good idea not to totally deny yourself if you want something occasionally. When you cheat just remember not to keep feeling guilty and get back on track.
